School Holidays a danger for home insurance customers
Many parents will be glad of having home insurance during the school holidays, it has been suggested.
The results of a household insurance survey showed that 5.6 million family homes were damaged by either children or pets during last summer's holiday period, with the repair bill hitting a staggering £639.3 million.
Walls, carpets, furniture and windows were among the items most often damaged by bored children running about the house and kicking balls around.
It is difficult for parents to keep their children under strict supervision all the time.
Children letting off steam can result in substantial damage to the family home and parents need to make sure they have adequate insurance to cover the inevitable mishaps and accidents that could occur.
The survey also revealed that accidental damage claims on household insurance policies increased by 23% over the holiday period.
